Vintage Notes
A long, cool growing season with no major heat spikes allowed the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, achieving full phenolic maturity without excessive sugar accumulation. Generous winter rains replenished soils and supported healthy vine growth, producing an above-average yield of balanced, vibrant fruit. This ideal combination of weather and vine health resulted in Cabernets with remarkable purity, complexity, and classic structure, offering excellent aging potential.

Vineyard
Walker Chiles is a small-production estate label rooted in the volcanic soils of Diamond Mountain District — one of
Napa Valley's most dramatic and demanding mountain appellations. The vineyard climbs steep hillside terrain
above the valley floor, where thin, rocky volcanic soils force vines to struggle beautifully, concentrating sugars,
flavors, and aromatic intensity to a remarkable degree.
Diamond Mountain sits at elevations between 1,200 and 2,200 feet above sea level, above the fog line and subject
to intense daytime sun tempered by cool mountain nights. This dramatic diurnal shift — often 50°F or more between
day and night — is the secret behind the vineyard's ability to produce Zinfandel with both power and freshness. The
result is a mountain wine in every sense: bold, structured, wild, and built to last.
