Vintage Notes
A long, cool growing season with no major heat spikes allowed the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, achieving full phenolic maturity without excessive sugar accumulation. Generous winter rains replenished soils and supported healthy vine growth, producing an above-average yield of balanced, vibrant fruit. This ideal combination of weather and vine health resulted in Cabernets with remarkable purity, complexity, and classic structure, offering excellent aging potential.

Winemaking Notes
The Reserve was crafted from three individual estate blocks, all hand-picked and hand-sorted. Malolactic fermentation occurred in French oak barrels, and the wine was aged for 22 months—one-third in new oak and two-thirds in neutral. Final blending was completed two months prior to bottling to ensure harmony, balance, and a refined expression of the estate fruit.

Hawthorne & Pierce's 2025 Russian River Valley Chardonnay showcases the bright fruit, freshness, and texture that define Chardonnay from one of Sonoma County's most respected cool-climate appellations. Morning fog and cool nights slow the ripening process, helping preserve the wine's natural acidity while allowing the fruit to develop full flavor.
The winemaking focuses on balance rather than simply adding richness. Half of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation to create a creamy, rounded texture, while the other half was held back to preserve freshness and natural lift. After six months in French oak, the two components were blended to create a Chardonnay that brings together citrus and orchard-fruit brightness with subtle oak and a smooth, textured mid-palate.

Vineyard & Winemaking
Sourced from the Russian River Valley, one of Sonoma County's premier cool-climate appellations, this Chardonnay benefits from morning fog and cool nights that help preserve bright acidity as the fruit ripens fully. The fog-cooled growing environment contributes to the wine's fresh citrus character and balanced structure.
The winemaking was deliberately divided to achieve both texture and freshness. Half the wine underwent malolactic fermentation, building a creamy, rounded mouthfeel, while the other half was kept from malolactic fermentation to retain the fruit's natural lift and acidity. The two components were blended after six months of aging in French oak, creating a deliberate balance between richness, freshness, and oak character.
