Benton Ridge 2022 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a limited hillside estate Cabernet crafted from steep volcanic vineyards in Napa Valley. The celebrated 2022 vintage produced fruit of remarkable concentration, balance, and aging potential, resulting in a Cabernet layered with dark fruit, mineral complexity, and refined structure. Aged for 12 months in French oak, this small-production wine delivers exceptional depth today while rewarding careful cellaring for years to come.

Winemaking Notes
The Reserve was crafted from three individual estate blocks, all hand-picked and hand-sorted. Malolactic fermentation occurred in French oak barrels, and the wine was aged for 22 months—one-third in new oak and two-thirds in neutral. Final blending was completed two months prior to bottling to ensure harmony, balance, and a refined expression of the estate fruit.
Tasting Notes
Inky, impenetrable ruby-black with a thin violet rim. The nose commands attention — dark cassis, wild blackberry, and black plum at the core, layered with roasted espresso, dark chocolate, graphite, crushed stone, and a haunting floral lift of dried violet. On the palate, Benton Ridge delivers the hallmarks of great hillside Napa Cabernet: concentrated, structured, and deeply mineral, with tightly wound tannins that uncoil across a finish of extraordinary length. Cedar, tobacco leaf, and iron mark the close. A wine built for the cellar — and stunning right now.

Winemaking
Fruit is sourced from Benton Ridge's steep hillside estate, where volcanic soils and cool mountain air naturally produce small, intensely concentrated berries. Careful vineyard management and small-lot production emphasize site expression over intervention. The wine is matured for 12 months in French oak, adding subtle spice and structure while preserving the vineyard's distinctive fruit purity and mineral character.

Vintage Notes
2022 is one of Napa Valley's most lauded vintages of the decade. Perfect growing conditions — warm, even temperatures with no heat spikes, excellent vine water status, and a harvest at ideal phenolic maturity — produced wines of rare concentration and structural balance. Hillside sites like Benton Ridge benefited enormously: the combination of lean mountain soils and a long, unhurried ripening season yielded Cabernet of uncommon depth, minerality, and aging potential.
