The 2019 Backstage Winery Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Soprano Vineyard, a single 4.6-acre estate parcel located in the St. Helena AVA at the north end of the Napa Valley floor. The vineyard's alluvial soils and warm growing conditions, moderated by cooling evening breezes, support ripe, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon while helping maintain balanced acidity.

Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, this library release has been cellared and released directly from Backstage Winery. The wine shows layered blue and black fruit characteristic of St. Helena Cabernet, with French oak contributing structure, spice, and a supple, polished texture. Winemaking Notes

The Reserve was crafted from three individual estate blocks, all hand-picked and hand-sorted. Malolactic fermentation occurred in French oak barrels, and the wine was aged for 22 months—one-third in new oak and two-thirds in neutral. Final blending was completed two months prior to bottling to ensure harmony, balance, and a refined expression of the estate fruit.

Sourced from a single vineyard in Napa Valley's renowned Oak Knoll District AVA, the VIA Napa 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon highlights the elegance and balance that define one of the valley's coolest growing regions. Cooling marine breezes from nearby San Pablo Bay extend the growing season, allowing the fruit to ripen gradually while preserving vibrant acidity, aromatic complexity, and refined structure. Well-drained gravelly loam soils naturally encourage balanced vine growth and concentrated fruit, resulting in a Cabernet Sauvignon known for its bright character, silky tannins, and exceptional freshness.

The outstanding 2022 growing season combined warm afternoons with cool evenings, creating ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon with remarkable purity and balance. After harvest, the wine was aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, adding subtle layers of cedar and baking spice while allowing the vibrant fruit to remain the focus. Produced in just 100 cases, this limited-production Cabernet offers polished structure, elegant complexity, and the ability to enjoy now with decanting or cellar through 2035 and beyond.

Vineyard & Winemaking

Soprano Vineyard is a single 4.6-acre estate parcel in the St. Helena AVA, located on the north end of the Napa Valley floor. Its alluvial soils support concentrated, well-structured fruit, while cooling evening breezes through the valley help moderate the warm growing conditions and encourage balanced acidity and full ripening.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels. After aging, this small library lot was cellared by Backstage and released directly from the winery, rather than being made available through standard channels.

Winemaking & Vineyard

Sourced entirely from Perennial Vineyard, this single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the balance and consistency that define this distinctive Napa Valley site. Careful farming practices allow the fruit to reach optimal ripeness while preserving freshness and varietal character, creating a wine that expresses both richness and precision.

Following harvest, the wine was aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, adding subtle layers of cedar, vanilla, and structure without overshadowing the vineyard's natural fruit expression. The result is a beautifully balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with silky tannins, refined complexity, and a long, elegant finish.
